We harbor beliefs of what we feel is right and wrong. When we see those beliefs violated or abused, we have an obligation to acknowledge it, call it out, and offer alternative actions.
Here are 13 elements you can put into practice to take a stand for humanity today:
Pay attention to non-verbal messaging from the people with whom you're talking
Be yourself and set an example
Have courage
Be responsible and accountable for your actions
Establish trust and rapport
Help and learn from each other
Take care of the people around you
Be strong in your values and understand them
Ask questions, try to build a coalition of people and allies who can make a change
Speak up, don't be silent to mistreatments
Catch people doing something good and show appreciation
Listen and learn from what you hear
Help teach and train people and employees
"People are amazing," said Sandy Chernoff during a recent Conversations for Humanity discussion, which is a community of Bringing Humanity Together. "As long as we treat them nicely, there is a chance people will be nice back."
